Philosophy

Religion
Daniel asked:

Many philosophies talk of a higher power and the need to become one with it. When does philosophy become religion?

Religion
DougEfresh asked:

Back in ancient times people were out of control and had no reason to listen to anybody. So is it possible that a group of the smartest thinkers of the time developed religion as a way to somewhat control people’s actions by making them believe there would be consequences after you die for the actions you take in life. I am one of those people that just doesnt know whats up there and this is one of the possiblilites that I think sounds quite reasonable.

Buddhism
Hoodie Scum asked:

(Or Maybe I should say Existentialism(s) and Buddhism(s)
as they both come in a variety of different flavours.)
Kate- from my own experience of Buddhism, you have it completely wrong.
Buddhism is about connecting with our direct experience, seeing through the concepts we paste over it.
It is also about compassion and paying attention to how we affect others.
Non-attachment is not the same thing as rejection. It is about allowing everything to be and remaining open to it without clinging, rejection or indifference.

Religion
aquarian asked:

If no religion exists, but all of us believe in God and the supreme power, would these fights over religion, human massacre and women degradation stop?I m not mentioning any one religion, but sadly, and shockingly,in every religion, women are suppressed, whereas nature is unbaised. Was religion supposed to make humans peaceful happy or to go against nature and perish human life in a stressful way? What would have been the possible cause of invention of different religions?

Religion
Biinje asked:

I think Science and religion can stregthen each other, for example, Evolution theory and creation theory can go hand in hand. While Christian accounts give the outline of how God created the world, science tells exactly how it was done.

“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind” - Albert Einstein.

If you’ve studied Buddhism please give detailed answer in your opinion, ty

I’ve mostly read it is only a philosophy, is this true?

Buddhism

If someone was caught for drunk driving, how would followers of these 3 religions act in the situation?

Religion
Hammy asked:

I want something that’s unbiased and presents both sides of the argument. One that presents the most arguments and criticisms and covers all areas, like arguments for and against the existence of god and the religious belief system and stuff like that. I read Peter Vardy’s ‘The Thinkers Guide to God’ and couldn’t help thinking it was a little bias towards religion.

Yes, I’m aware I already asked this on the Religion and Spirituality section but I didn’t get any helpful answers and I hope I will get it here. After all, it is to do with philosophy.
